We've been to the Akron Zoo too. This was Teagan's first time out of the stroller and walking around with us. He really enjoyed getting a close up view of the animals. The both really enjoyed the penguins and of course the mandatory train ride!
We've had the pleasure of teaching our sons how to care for animals as well. This summer we had the duty of rescuing 3 kittens that were abandoned by their mother under my mother's back porch. After days of searching for the the mysterious meowings, my mom and sister found 3 kittens. After talking to me about them, I said gather them up and bring them over. After going back outside to get them, only 1 could be found. We had the one in the box for 4 days before the other 2 were found. This one, the boys had named Gnocchi, was washed with flea and tick shampoo 3 times before he was bug free, and I spent an hour picking the bugs off and out of his fur. He was fed and taught to use the litter box. He thrived and after 2 weeks, went to a great home in New Jersey. The little girl that got him as a birthday gift, called him Carl.
Like I said there were 2 more that arrived 3 days after "Gnocchi/Carl" (on the right) and one was orange and on the left in this picture and the 3rd was black and didn't survive. She came to use to late and passed away on a Monday morning. The boys and I were very sad that all our effort still couldn't help her. The vet suspects it was something she ate before we got to her. Yet, the orange kitty on the left did survive and we found her a good home as well. 1 week after coming to us, she found a good home with a little girl here in Ravenna. It made the boys sad to see the kitties leave, but made us all very happy that we were able to save 2 and find them good homes instead of going to a kill shelter.
Of course we've been crazy busy this summer. Teagan had summer school from June 21 to July 21, then you had July 4th, and family visiting from out of town. Our 2nd oldest nephew got married while the 3rd oldest nephew and our niece got engaged. We've been busy but I hope to post more in the near future!
