We went to the Cleveland Zoo last Saturday and met my best friend and her 3 daughters there to enjoy the day together. This year the elephants are new and the dinosaurs have left. So instead of dinos everywhere, there are now elephants everywhere and they are wonderful! Here at the entrance, we were lucky enough to get a picture of most the kiddos still happy and fresh for the day! Left to right, you have Teagan, Faith, Aryia, and Ethan. Lacey stayed in her stroller. What a great picture!
On our way to the rainforest, we passed this lovely statue of a baboon. I got the boys are Aryia to pose with it. They were already restless having just taken a picture 5 minutes ago with the elephant. It's only 9:50am. 10 minutes until the zoo opens. Despite the restlessness, we did make it through the rainforest, even if it meant going through some places at lightning speed. I may enjoy the zoo again at my speed once the kids are grown. I miss taking really nice pictures of the animals!
The rainforest finally opened, so how could we resist a picture of the kids in front of the waterfall? Well, as you can see, we couldn't. We were able to get all the kids again even if 1 is pouting....
We did make it out of the rainforest and into the main zoo area. We viewed "Monkey Island" and everything all the way up to Polar Bears and Sea Lions. After coming on down through reindeer and wolves, we broke for lunch at 1pm. After what seemed like the longest and busiest lunch EVER, we went straight to primates and felines. AND THEN WE SAW THIS!!! Yep. A monkey cleaning another monkey's butt!
We also got a chance to see the chimpanzee's and although I turned the flash off, you can still see Lacey in the glass. I just love this picture though. She was turned around in her stroller yelling at me and her mom when I took the picture and it looks as if the mommy chimp was holding her! AWESOME!!!!
And of course it must have been mating season at the zoo. These 2 bats were really going at it. Luckily, I didn't have to explain it to the boys. I just said they were wrestling and of course they were happy with that!
We did finally make it to what I wanted to see! THE ELEPHANTS!!! I even got an awesome pic of the boys watching the elephants.
We finished off the zoo with some ice cream and a trip to the souvenir shop. Of course the boys each picked a toy unrelated to the zoo, but I made up for it.
It was a great day and I'm glad we made it with my BFF and her kids.
